Janome 521 sewing machines review

For a lower-end machine, this is a great piece of equipment for the price. I do primarily garment construction (stretch and non-stretch) so I really only needed a bare-bones basic model and didn't want to spend pounds on a Pfaff or one of the more pricey brands. This one is perfect for me. I previously had a low-low end machine (under 100) so the difference was definitely noticeable and appreciated. The machine sewed smoothly, relatively quietly, and seems sturdy. I have an industrial machine at home as well and I have been finding myself relying more on my Janome now than on the industrial because it's easier to use. I've tried out a lot of the different stitches and was pleased with how easy it is to switch back and forth from one function to another. I have no regrets about my purchase and would not hesitate to recommend this machine to anyone. The only reason that it doesn't get a five is because it doesn't have a ton of power to go through several layers of thick fabric. I had a tough time sewing over thick seams so I use my industrial for that now.
