The Janome J3-18 is a portable lightweight sewing machine with a front loading bobbin case and easily converts to free arm by removing the detachable storage box. It is quite and easy to use.
Easy to thread and operate, this 2 dial machine is simplicity itself. Sew an automatic buttonhole in a 4 step sequence, straight stitch, variable zig zag stitch or one of the other stitches using the stitch selector and choose the most appropriate stitch length using the stitch length dial. There are also 8 stretch stitches to choose from.
This compact Janome J3-18, feature packed machine not only makes an ideal starter machine because it is so easy to use but would also suit the serious seamstress or home maker because it has loads of time saving features
Threading is no longer a dreaded chore on the Janome J3-18 because the easy to follow numbered thread path gets you down to the needle where the built in automatic needle threader gets the job done in seconds.
The convenient free arm allows easy access to difficult areas and is ideal for sewing sleeves and trouser legs.
The extra height foot lifter increases the height of the foot and allows for extra bulky fabrics.
The Janome J3-18 has 2 handy pull up/push down spool pins for ease of use and safe storage. And because there are 2, you can really be creative using twin needles.
All this plus quick foot change, a reverse stitch lever, a one-hand thread cutter and drop feed facility for free hand embroidery, all add up to make this lightweight Janome J3-18 a great starter machine.

Cheltenham Review by Liz
Overall rating Good sewing machine resonable on price. I have been using sewing machines for years and never had one as light weight as this, dont get me wrong it will still stitch my old jeans without a problem. (Posted on 5/7/09)

Birmingham Review by Wendy Whitby
Overall rating This is an excellent machine for beginners and experienced sewers alike. It is so simple to set up and use. The first day I had the machine, I had reduced three bedspreads in size - one of which is quilted. It coped with the thickness with no problem. I also did some alterations to Lycra sportwear using the built-in stretch stitches. I would recommend it for being lightweight, versatile and a very reasonable price. (Posted on 4/12/08)
