Compact, lightweight (under 9 Kg), capable of 23 stitch functions, and loaded with other options, this Singer 2263 is simple to operate and makes it possible for even novices to enjoy creative sewing.
Some of the features include a front bobbin loading system that's easy in, easy out, and has been in use for many years. An easy lay-in threading system with automatic needle threading, an electronically controlled foot pedal for smoothly maintaining or changing speeds, reverse sewing at the press of a lever for neat seam ends, adjustable needle position selector for attaching zippers and top stitching, quick-release presser foot and a built-in four-step buttonhole for easy buttonhole sewing.
The machine is quiet and ruggedly built, has built-in sewing light, provides horizontal thread delivery for better stitches and the ability to use many different sized spools of thread.

Overall rating So far, I am very happy with the product, despite my problems at first. I also like the whole look of the design, and it isnt terribly bulky, even sitting on my small desk, and once I got it all figured out, Ive found that it is easy to use, and makes my sewing much easier. Overall rating Im a novice sewing machine-user but found the SInger instruction manual easy to understand and was soon trying out the wide range of stiches available on the 2263 model. I practised on fabric offcuts to get the feel of the machine but was soon doing alterations on some trousers and feeling confident that I could most simple sewing tasks on my new machine. The 2263 is remarkably light-weight and does an imprssive range of things for a relatively low-priced machine. (Posted on 1/17/09)

Overall rating I bought my Singer 2263 some time ago and Im pretty happy with it. It gets a lot of use, about three days a week. Ive only had two problems with it.
One of the the two top bobbins (the spool holders on top of the machine) has broken off, so I have to use the front one, which isnt that big a deal but its kind of annoying if I ever wanted to use a double needle. My other complaint is that it seems like the thread breaks a lot when Im sewing, and I have to rethread the machine several times during sewing. Ive not had this problem before so I dont think its me.
All in all though, for the price it is an excellent machine and I would recommend it to anyone, especially young fashion students looking for a bargain. (Posted on 10/2/08)
